Beautification & Maintenance

Working together to keep our Marina District clean, safe, and welcoming for all.

The Marina District Business Association (MDBA) leads community‑driven beautification and maintenance efforts that protect the health, appearance, and vibrancy of our waterfront.

These efforts include everyone who experiences the district — residents, tourists, community members, and boat owners, who form a special part of our marina culture.

While this section will expand as the Maintenance Assessment District (MAD) process evolves, our current focus is on volunteer‑supported care across our beaches, coastline, highways, and the Kettner Corridor’s shops and public spaces.

Below is an overview of the initiatives we are developing. Full details will be added as each program launches.

Cleanliness & Public‑Space Care

Keeping our shared spaces clean and inviting.

We work with volunteers, local businesses, boat owners, and visitors to maintain the cleanliness of the Marina District’s most beloved areas — from the waterfront to the walkways.

Coming soon:

• Community cleanup days for residents, tourists, and boat owners

• Litter‑reduction initiatives along beaches, coastlines, and highways

• Public‑space care guidelines for visitors and businesses

• Collaborative cleanup partnerships with marinas and hotels

Landscaping & Green Spaces

Enhancing the natural beauty of our waterfront and corridors.

Our goal is to support the health and appearance of landscaped areas, green spaces, and the Kettner Corridor through community stewardship and future MAD‑aligned maintenance.

• Seasonal planting and beautification events

• Garden stewardship sessions

• Native plant education for residents and visitors

• Green‑space enhancement projects across the district

Graffiti Removal & Aesthetic Care

Keeping the district visually welcoming for everyone.

We are developing community‑supported processes to address graffiti, tagging, and visual disruptions throughout the Marina District, including the Kettner Corridor and waterfront pathways.

Coming soon:

• Graffiti reporting and response

• Community paint‑over days

• Public art and mural opportunities

• Aesthetic improvement projects in high‑traffic areas

Seasonal Beautification

Celebrating the Marina District through color, culture, and creativity.

As we grow, MDBA will coordinate seasonal enhancements that uplift the district’s character and charm — inviting residents, tourists, and boat owners to participate.

Coming soon:

• Seasonal décor along the waterfront and Kettner Corridor

• Community planting events

• Holiday and cultural enhancements

• Waterfront beautification projects

Future MAD Maintenance Initiatives

Preparing for expanded services as the MAD process develops.

As MDBA moves toward formal recognition as a Maintenance Assessment District, this section will expand to include structured maintenance services funded through the MAD.

Future offerings may include:

• Regular landscaping and cleaning schedules

• Infrastructure care

• Enhanced public‑space maintenance

• District‑wide beautification planning

A Community Effort

Our beautification and maintenance work is a shared responsibility — and a shared joy.

Residents, tourists, business owners, and boat owners all play a role in keeping the Marina District clean, vibrant, and cared for.

More initiatives are coming soon. Stay connected as we continue building a district that reflects the beauty and spirit of everyone who experiences it.
